Vehicle credits — adding and removing cars

Your subscription is made up of vehicle credits — one for each car you cover. How they work, what happens when you remove a car, and how to buy more.

By the end of this guide, you'll understand:

  • What a vehicle credit is
  • What happens to a credit when you remove a car
  • How to buy more credits
  • What to do when you see "You've used all your vehicle credits"

What a vehicle credit is

A vehicle credit lets you add one car to CarCloud. They cost £4.99 per month each.

When you signed up you chose how many cars to cover, and that's how many credits you have. Add a car and one credit is used. Add a second car and a second credit is used.

What happens when you remove a car

⚠️ This is the important bit. A credit belongs to the car you used it on. When you remove that car, the credit goes with it — it doesn't come back for you to use on a different car.

So if you cover two cars, sell one and buy a replacement, you'll need to buy a new credit for the replacement.

💡 If you're swapping a car rather than getting rid of one, consider updating the existing record instead of removing it and starting again — check with support if you're unsure which applies.

"You've used all your vehicle credits"

You'll see this message when you try to add a car and have no credits left. It means exactly what it says — every credit you hold is already attached to a car, or has been used by a car you've since removed.

To carry on, buy another credit.

Buying more credits

  1. Go to Manage and then Settings.
  2. Find the vehicle credits section.
  3. Choose how many extra credits you want.
  4. Complete the checkout.

Your subscription increases by £4.99 per month for each credit you add, and the new credits are available immediately.

Removing credits you're not using

If you have credits that aren't attached to any car, you can remove them and reduce your monthly bill.

  1. Go to Manage and then Settings.
  2. Choose how many unused credits to remove.
  3. Confirm.

💡 You can only remove credits that aren't in use. If a credit is attached to a car, remove the car first — but remember that removing the car uses the credit up rather than freeing it.

Managing your subscription

To see your invoices, update your card or cancel, go to Manage and then Settings, and open the billing portal. From there you can view your current subscription, your next billing date, your payment method and your invoice history.
