Hire Purchase or Conditional Sale finance reports

If you're buying your car on Hire Purchase or Conditional Sale, a finance report shows what it's worth, what you still owe, and what it would cost to settle early.

By the end of this guide, you'll be able to:

  • Generate an HP or Conditional Sale report
  • Enter your agreement details correctly
  • Read the tracker, equity and settlement figures
  • Understand voluntary termination

Before you start

💡 Have your agreement to hand — you'll need the amount borrowed and any deposit.

Step 1: Open your vehicle

sc2

From My Vehicles, open the vehicle and scroll to Financial Overview.

Step 2: Start the report

  1. Click Generate Report.
  2. Confirm Yes — the car is financed.
  3. Enter your monthly payment, current mileage and estimated annual mileage.
  4. Click Continue.

Step 3: Your agreement details

sc19

Enter the amount borrowed and any deposit, then click Continue.

💡 The deposit is the one people most often mis-remember. Check the paperwork rather than guessing.

Step 4: What your car is worth

sc20

Your estimated settlement figure and equity are shown alongside.

Step 5: Your agreement in detail

sc21

Check the provider and agreement number are right, then review your monthly payment, total borrowed, and the monthly and daily interest.

Step 6: How far through you are

You'll see how much you've paid, what's left, the interest remaining and how many months are still to run.

⚠️ Missed payments aren't included, so treat these as a guide if your account isn't up to date.

Step 7: Settling early

sc22

You can often settle early by paying the outstanding capital plus a smaller amount of interest. A 58-day interest charge applies to agreements longer than 12 months; 28 days for shorter ones.

Step 8: Using your actual settlement figure

sc23

  1. Click Enter Actual Settlement Figure.
  2. Enter the figure from your lender and click Calculate.

⚠️ Confirm it with your lender first — settlement values change monthly.

Step 9: Voluntary termination

sc24Once you've paid half the total amount payable you may have the right to hand the car back. This section shows where you stand against that threshold and whether you'd face a shortfall or a surplus.

⚠️ Terms vary by agreement — check your own paperwork before acting.

Keeping it accurate

  • Re-run the report monthly.
  • Keep your mileage current — it drives the valuation.
  • Update your actual settlement figure whenever you get a fresh one.
